CULTURAS Y TRADICIONES DE LOS AWA
Su idioma es awapit y castellano.
Está ubicada en la región norte. En las provincias de Esmeraldas Carchi e Imbabura .Población 3 570 personas.Sus casas están en lo alto del llano, y son fabricadas con maderas resistentes como Chonta, guayacán o chanul, los pisos están tejidos con esterilla, con los tallos de árbol guante (chonta picada), las paredes son de pambil o chonta
Ellos viven de la caza, pesca y recolecta de frutos .Su comida típica es yuca, china, guatusa venado, cuatí, tapir hormigas, larvas, insectos y miel de abejas. El clima donde ellos viven es cálido -húmedo - lluvioso.
Sus costumbres son que los más ancianos sean los jefes y con ceremonias y ritos, ellos curan a los enfermos con tabaco y chapil . A través de estas ceremonias ellos aprenden y conservan sus tradiciones y culturas.

Their houses are on top of the plain, and are made of resistant wood as Chonta, guaiac or chanul floors are woven mat, with gauntlet tree stems (chonta minced), the walls are pambil or chonta
They live by hunting, fishing and gathering fruit. Your typical food is cassava, china, agouti deer, coati, tapir ants, grubs, insects and honey. The climate where they live is hot and humid - rainy.
Their customs are that the elderly are the heads and ceremonies and rites, they heal the sick with snuff and chapil. Through these ceremonies they learn and retain their traditions and cultures.
